MIKE SLOTT

A long-time political and labor movement activist, Mike continues to explore the intersection between secular Buddhism and socially engaged Buddhism. He is an editor of the SBN website and our newsletter, Rethinking the Dharma/Reimagining Community.

ALEX CARR

Alex is the lead facilitator for One Mindful Breath, a secular Buddhist sangha based in Wellington, New Zealand. An experienced mediation teacher, Alex focuses on sharing the benefits of practising secular Buddhism and continues to explore how the Dharma can help focus social engagement and political action.

BERNAT FONT-CLOS

Bernat met the dharma at a very young age and has practiced in Europe, India and Myanmar, gradually putting aside his artistic career. He has trained as a teacher with the Bodhi College and is doing a PhD in Buddhist Studies. He teaches in English, Catalan, and Spanish.

CIARA CULLEN

A yoga and mindfulness teacher, Ciara is one of the teachers of SBN's online course on secular Buddhism. Ciara takes a reflective approach to teaching that incorporates elements of early Buddhism, exploring ethics as embodied practice. She participated in the first Secular Dharma course at Bodhi College. Ciara is also an organic farmer, environmental educator and activist.

JOCHEN WEBER

A medical doctor who founded and now heads the German Buddha-Stiftung, Jochen has been on Buddha's path together with Stephen and Martine Batchelor for 25 years. He has been a meditation and MBSR teacher for 20 years. Jochen gives Dhamma talks, leads meditations and discussion groups, and organizes the events of Buddha-Stiftung.

KARSTEN J. STRUHL

Karsten J. Struhl teaches political philosophy and cross-cultural philosophy at the New School for Public Engagement in New York City. He has a special interest in developing a radically engaged Buddhism and has written about the intersection of Buddhism and Marxism. He is currently writing a book entitled Interrogating Buddhist Philosophy: A Sympathetic Reconstruction. He has practiced vipassanā meditation for the last 35 years.

LENORE LAMBERT

A secular dharma teacher, entrepreneur, psychologist, and World Champion Masters track and field athlete, Lenorë is the founder of Beaches Sangha in Sydney and author of the book “The Buddha for Modern Minds: A non-religious guide to the Buddha and his teachings”. She has been practicing since 2004 and has a passion for bringing the dharma into everyday life.

LINDA MODARO

A meditation teacher and founder of Sati Sangha in California, Linda is developing a reflective approach to meditation that helps meditators to integrate the teachings of early Buddhism into their lives. She has a keen interest in teacher training.

LORNA EDWARDS

A psychotherapist and mindfulness teacher in Wales, Lorna is one of the teachers of SBN's online course on secular Buddhism. She is curious as to how Stephen Batchelor’s Four Tasks can help us to change how we live so as to care for planet Earth and practice social justice.

MARTINE BATCHELOR

A Buddhist teacher and author, Martine lives in southwest France with her husband, Stephen Batchelor, and leads seminars and meditation retreats worldwide. She is interested in social action, religion and women’s issues, and the Silver Sante Study exploring whether meditation can help ageing.

PHOEBE COTTON

A supporter of the SBN project, Phoebe is part of the team that developed the website. She provides ongoing web support and online marketing advice for the SBN. She lives in Skibbereen, Ireland.

RAMSEY MARGOLIS

A member of the Tuwhiri editorial board and Tuwhiri’s publisher, Ramsey started to meditate in 1995. He first ran a secular Buddhist study group in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand, in 2007 and has been a prominent advocate of secular Buddhism.

SASKIA GRAF

A longtime practitioner in Secular and Theravada Buddhism, Saskia is a graduate of the Systematic Study of Buddhism at Tibetisches Zentrum Hamburg. She is an evolutionary humanist. At Buddha-Stiftung, she is co-responsible for development and moderation of online courses, discussion groups and meditations.

STEFANO BETTERA

A journalist and author whose most recent book is "Il Buddha era una persona concreta" (Rizzoli) (2019), Stefano participated in the Secular Dharma course at Bodhi College with Stephen Batchelor. His current research aims to define a practice and philosophical life for the modern world based on a dialogue between Buddhist teachings and Western culture.

STEPHEN BATCHELOR

A Buddhist teacher and writer best known for his secular or agnostic approach to Buddhism, Stephen is one of the core faculty of Bodhi College, an educational organisation offering in-depth study of early Buddhist teachings.

WINTON HIGGINS

A member of the Tuwhiri Project editorial board, Winton has been a Buddhist practitioner since 1987 and a teacher of insight meditation since 1995. He is a senior teacher for Sydney Insight Meditators and Secular Buddhism in Aotearoa New Zealand.
