Creative Dharma is a newsletter which explores the many ways in which meditation can be an aesthetically rich and personally fulfilling way of practising the dharma, a creative way, and what that means in our everyday life. The newsletter also looks at at what happens when we bring a meditative, or contemplative, sensibility into our practice of art.
Creative Dharma is one of the resources provided by the Tuwhiri Project, a dharma publishing imprint which was initiated by secular dharma practitioners in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand
The Tuwhiri Project Ltd is 100 percent owned by Aotearoa Buddhist Education Trust, a New Zealand registered charity. As a social enterprise with no investor shareholders and no need to prioritise profit-making, The Tuwhiri Project’s main purpose is to help people find meaning in a difficult world
There’s going to be a Creative Dharma newsletter open meeting with the editors of the newsletter at the end of February. While this one-hour Zoom meeting will be free and open to everyone, registration is required. Here are the meeting start times across a range of time zones.
Saturday 27 February
Hawaii, USA – 4pm
California, USA & Vancouver, Canada – 6pm
Chicago, USA – 8pm
New York, USA & Toronto, Canada – 9pm
Sunday 28 February

During this opportunity for you to meet the editors, you’ll hear what we have planned for the newsletter. To start with, each of us will each speak for five minutes.
- Brad Parks will speak on the place of creativity in meditation practice;
- Ramsey Margolis will outline a proposed voluntary paid subscription, with all revenue received being given to creatives across a range of artistic mediums, and to support creative dharma communities and individuals who want to get a community off the ground; and
- Ronn Smith will focus on creativity and the dharma, where it comes from, and why a newsletter is a good forum for a continuing conversation on this topic.
We will then open the meeting for observations and questions.
