In When stuck happens, Cathryn Jacob explores how we get caught in familiar patterns, what happens when we stop feeding these patterns, and how even a short pause can leave room for a more thoughtful, creative and caring response. We get caught. We soften. We begin again, making room for the awe and wonder of ordinary life.

As Martine Batchelor said of the book, it is evocative and describes well the ruminations which stop us from enjoying life. Cathryn offers various ways to soften into acceptance, resilience, kindness and compassion to self and others.

Cathryn Jacob is a retired physician. She has lived experience of contemplative practice and secular dharma. She has studied at Bodhi College, including with Stephen and Martine Batchelor, and is particularly interested in bringing together compassionate self-understanding, ethical living and contemporary psychology.

On sale from 29 October, you can download an excerpt from When stuck happens and buy the book here, order it at your local bookstore, or buy it through bookshop.org.
