Stephen and Martine Batchelor and Bernat Font warmly invite you for an one-hour online event of reflections and practice on 30 September to celebrate their new book Living life on Life’s Terms, which features talks and reflections from them during a year-long course on Secular Dharma at Bodhi College.

Identifying the core values and principles of the teachings of Gotama, the Buddha, the book systematically rethinks them in ways that address the issues of this secular age.
In this community online event, the three teachers will talk about how the book came into being and reflect on the valuable teachings it holds. There will also be an opportunity for participants to ask questions or share reflections.
The book is published by Tuwhiri, and the event is held in partnership with Tuwhiri and the Secular Buddhist Network.
After registering for the event (the cost is 10GBP), all participants will receive a link offering 10% off any paperback or ePub in Tuwhiri’s online store from 10 September through 10 October 2026 – cost of postage included to wherever you are.

If you are unable to afford payment for this event, please contact us here. We will make sure that no one is turned away because of lack of funds
More on Living Life on Life's Terms
Drawn from a year long course at Bodhi College, Living life on Life’s Terms is an inspiring guide for anyone seeking a contemporary path to freedom.
In a perfect storm of rising mental health problems, ecological precarity, and geopolitical shock waves, this book offers a mature and compelling vision of what it means to navigate this storm, and more than that, to flourish.
The main question that runs through the book is a direct one: What matters today? The response is the practice of four tasks:
Embrace life
Let reactivity be
See reactivity stop
Actualise a path
These are not doctrines to accept but tasks to be performed – guidelines for meeting experience, living ethically, and responding wisely to the realities of life.
This approach rests on a philosophical scepticism that values questions over answers. Following the Buddha’s middle way between the extremes of ‘it is’ and ‘it is not’, secular dharma avoids dogmatic claims about ultimate truth or reality.
Three leading voices and Bodhi College teachers bring secular dharma to life in this book. Stephen Batchelor offers a tapestry of philosophical insight, Martine Batchelor shares practical guidance for weaving practice into daily life, while Bernat Font adds creativity and warmth through stories and metaphors.
Together, their teaching creates a multidimensional experience that speaks to both heart and mind.
